Age ain't nuthin but a number
Yesterday was my birthday. In and of itself, I don't have particularly strong feelings about my birthday. There a tiny bit of "Oh no, am getting older"... but since I don't feel old enough to start panicking, it think it's just a good excuse to have a party (or parties) ... and get presents! :)
This year, have managed to stretch my birthday into 3 days' worth of celebrations.
On Thursday, Oya (my boss) took the team for a long boozy lunch at her favourite Turkish restaurant in London, both to celebrate my birthday as well as Camlinh's upcoming wedding, and general reward to the team for our hard work. Being from Turkey and since she goes there quite often, we got extra special treatment from the owners. This meant free champagne, which in addition to the 2 bottles of red between the 5 of us resulted in the rest of the afternoon was a bit of a write-off.
The Team - David, me, Camlinh, Bridget, Oya

Mezze starters (my plate) ... yum!

Delicious grilled sausage - very tasty!

The meats (again, my plate)

Finished off with lovely Turkish desserts and turkish coffee. Very satisfying.
Yesterday
Arrived quite late to the office, partially because I could get away with it (with the playing of the "birthday card"), and partially because I had to spend a while in M&S (Marks and Spencers - department store that also does yummy food) en route to work to pick up cakes, cheese, crispbread and berries for my peeps in the office.
Went with David (one of my Pho eating buddies ... Camlinh is the other one but she couldn't make it) to Tay Do for lunch (Vietnamese restaurant up the road from our offices). Ordered the Ca Kho (stewed fish ... almost like my mum's one) and stir fried Kang Kong (green veggie that's sort of like a spinach) with Preserved Beancurd. Both were, yummy, but also made me feel a bit homesick ... I quite miss my folks' cooking ... and our restaurant!

After work, met up with Ming (who was having drinks with her work peeps - who were plying me with Pimms) and then headed to the Embassy (restaurant and private members club, situated on top of "exclusive" nightclub frequented by minor celebrities) for girly dinner ... yep, more food ... and drink! Insisting on paying for dinner may have been a tactical mistake on my part, since the girls decided that they would make up for it in the buying of drinks, mainly consisting of several rounds of shots!

Today have planned for more festivities involving a picnic in Hyde Park. BBC Weather says it's going to rain, but the sky at the moment is looking mostly sunny. Metcheck.com forecasts raining starting at 12ish (which might explain why it's looking okay at the moment). *sigh* Stupid unpredictable UK weather! Oh well, have contingency-planned to relocate the party to our flat if it rains.
