Chamonix & Geneva

Having had such a great time in Les Arcs, when Reen and Felix had informed me of their intention of going for some more fun in the snow, my response was an immediate ... "Count me in!" We arrived in Geneva after about a 1 1/2 hr flight, mid-morning on Friday 3rd March. Spent the rest of the day wandering around the city, which was overall actually a litle bit, well, boring, for want of a better word. Wandered around seeing the sights, including: The Jet d’Eau, a 140 metre fountain – apparently the highest in the world.

After exhausting all the sights of Geneva (well, the typical touristy sights anyway), we took a mini-coach transfer across the French border to the Chamonix ski resort. Unfortunately, our mid-week anticipatory joy over Chamonix experiencing fresh dumps of snow, turned to tears of sorrow upon arriving at the resort and being informed that the Chamonix lifts were closed due to blizzard conditions. However, all was not lost, since neighbouring resort Les Houches (situated a 20 min bus ride away) was open for business. Spent the next two days having fun in the snow ...

On Monday, our last (non-skiing) travel day, lo and behold, the skies cleared up and Chamonix lifts were open (to quote Alanis Morissette ... "isn't it ironic, don't ya think").

So we spent the day wandering around Chamonix (quite a picturesque town) taking photos and having a leisurely lunch whilst waiting for our afternoon transfer to Geneva.









Arrived back in London town on the Monday evening, tired and satisfied .... and determined to go on (yet another) ski/boarding trip before the season is over ...
