Weekend in Colchester
At Cheryl's Farm
Stayed overnight at Cheryl's (my workmate's) farm on Sat night a few weekends ago. She lives in the village of Boxted near Colchester. In London, it's fairly common for
people who work in "the City" to commute for well over an hour every day to
get to work (it takes Cheryl 1 hr 20 mins). The upside is that they get fresh
air, land to grow things on, and in Cheryl's case pet horses. Downside - 1 hr 20 mins x 2 trips, every workday!
The Farm

Yep, she got to have a white pony whilst growing up (every girl's dream, well that's the stereotype anyway), but on the flip side ... she also has to clean up after it!
Me & Marjolijn Ton's (Cheryl's boyfriend's) horse ... she's Dutch which accounts for both their funny-sounding names).
Lavenham
Went to visit Lavenham, a town famous known for its houses dating back to medieval times (i.e. back when a little bit of a crooked construction didn't seem to matter).
This place is actually called "The Crooked House"
Had a yummy roast pork dinner (delicious local pork from local butcher) on Sat night.
My plate of food:
The next day, went into Colchester town to see the sights.

Mersea
Went for a drive to Mersea Island, which is about a 20 min drive from Colchester. The beach huts were colourful and picturesque, but being from Perth (and therefore a bit of a beach snob), I wasn't particularly impressed by the "beach" itself (all rocks and shells - not powdery sand and clear blue water like Cottesloe beach back home) .
