Back in Perth for Chinese New Year
The title pretty much says it all. Spent 10 days back in good ol' Perth from the 22nd to 31st Jan ...
Australia Day
Fitting in nicely with my travel plans, Australia Day (26th Jan) this year fell three days before Chinese New Year ("CNY") ... (In case you don't know, CNY follows the the luna calendar the actual date can fall anywhere from Jan - March).
Australia Day BBQ at Di's (who lives on the South Perth foreshore ... fabulous for for the viewing of fireworks).
Law School Crew
Met up with UWA Law folks for dinner at the Asian University Restaurant (aka Billy Lee's). The place was a favourite amongst us destitute university students, serving tasty (and cheap!) chinese food (mmmmmm ... sang far chicken...). It's now my dinner destination of choice when I comes to law-school renunion/catch-up type dinners.
Lilian
Spent a fair chunk of time playing with (and taking tons of photos and digital video clips of) my niece Lilian who's now roughly 1 yr and 3 mths old. Boy, she's grown in the last 7 months (obviously this is to be expected, but still a bit of a surprise). She can now talk (well, sort of) and do cute things on demand (i.e. kiss, clap, wave, make monster faces).

Family & Food
Was wonderful having the whole family around to celebrate Chinese New Year (my sis also flew in from Syd and brother flew in from Hong Kong). Upon arrival in town, my brother and I gave my mum (the best cook in the world!) a list of the all the home-cooked dishes we'd missed whilst away, and my mum very obligingly proceeded to go through the list during our 10 days in Perth. The typical meal consisted of several dishes whipped up by my clever mother in next to no time ...
Chinese New Year
New Year's Eve consisted of a family renunion dinner at home, typically (for us) a steamboat and other yummy dishes (abalone and pineapple, fried rice paper rolls, stir-fried noodles/hofan). The following day, New Year's dinner involved another big meal, this time at a fancy chinese restaurant ...
Sis with the folks and her folks-in-law, Glen and Barbara, (special "hi" to Barb ... and a big thanks for looking after the lil' dynamo ... aka my car). Unfortunately, Jason (my sis' husband) couldn't make it over from Syd due to work commitments.

Dancing in Perth
Was also fabulous catching up with the Perth salsa/tango crowd and visiting old dance haunts - hanging out at 'the studio' (my home away from home for over a year) and salsa-ing the night away at the Varga Lounge. Realised afterwards that I neglected to take any pics ... was too fixated on dancing to take any photos!
